Does Your Congressman Have His Own Reality Show?

cnnpoliticsI meet people everyday in L.A. who are writing, directing, or producing something online. The web has become an unstoppable entertainment machine. CNN wants in.

Mediabistro reports today on CNN’s “new Web reality show that follows around two freshman congressmen.”

The New York Times’ Brian Stelter writes about the new show, “Freshman Year.” The “stars” of the show are Reps. Jared Polis, a Democrat from Colorado, and Jason Chaffetz, a Republican from Utah. “The two politicians are producing most of the content themselves by carrying video cameras on Capitol Hill and writing essays about their experiences,” writes Stelter.

People in Colorado and Utah are going to love this show.

Specifically, people that may have lost their jobs recently because of the recession. People who can no longer afford to pay their bills or eat three meals a day. People who are weary of escapist comedy like Two and a Half Men. These people want Survivor: Capital Hill. They crave Extreme Makeover: Government Edition. They want to watch their elected representative making home movies about his first year in office.

They want to know where he keeps his Pop Tarts. They want to KNOW.
