Free LA Comedy: ‘Race Can Be a Riot’

15Oct07

Nothing gets an actor’s attention like the word “free.” Free comedy is always good, especially when there are headliners from Comedy Central on the bill.

This looks like an interesting discussion on the use of race in comedy. Useful for comedians, writers, actors, and anyone else where ethnic references might come into play in performance.

From backstage:

Back Stage, the Fine Arts Theatre, and American Federation of Television & Radio Artists invite you to Race Can Be a Riot, a night of comedy with stand-up headliners from Comedy Central and more! The evening will include live performances, video clips, and a panel with top comedians discussing the use of ethnic references in their repertoire.

The event will be held Monday, Oct. 22, 7:30 p.m., at the Fine Arts Theatre, 8556 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills. For more info, visit studioscreenings.com. Admission is free. RSVP to rsvp@studioscreenings.com. Note the number of guests in your party and your Back Stage affiliation. $2 validated parking available at 8484 Wilshire (S.E. corner of Wilshire and La Cienega).
