When Pig ‘N Whistles Fly
With Downtown L.A.’s revival in full swing, there’s been interest by the current owners of the Hollywood Pig ‘N Whistle to return to that location. Blogdowntown has been giving the Pig a lesson on their own history, and with plans falling through for a new tenant to occupy a space at the Pig’s old Fine Arts Building location on 7th, it could still happen.
Checking out the Pig ‘N Whistle’s own site, we find out there were actually 4 locations in Downtown L.A.
Now, a 1934 Downtown Los Angeles survey map of Broadway, up for sale on eBay, sheds some light on where they were:
1. Fine Arts Building on 7th & Flower

2. Orpheum Theater near 9th & Broadway
3. Hotel Yorkshire near 7th & Broadway

4. Next to old Los Angeles City Hall near 2nd & Broadway

If the Fine Arts Building location doesn’t pan out, maybe one of the others would be a nice move. 7th & Broadway would be pretty cool. Pig ‘N Whistle and Broadway Bar on the same street!
Here’s what the 1934 survey map of Broadway looks like:
